Praying the Story
A goal of Bible study is not only to know more about the Bible, but also to let the scripture change us. Sometimes, as I read, I place myself in the story, as one in need:
Jesus called the disciples.
Will I follow?
What must I leave behind?
Jesus healed the paralytic.
What in me needs to be forgiven
so that I can walk freely?
Who are the friends to help me?
Jesus told the story of a prodigal.
What am I wasting?
Do I recognize the greatness of God’s love?
How do I respond?
Reading the stories
and praying them
shows us that, by God’s grace,
we can begin to live them.
