GOD ANSWERS

Katy Steele & Lizzie Cornell

I scream out questions, trembling in fear.
Then God whispers in my ear:
“You are my child, whom I hold dear.
Be still; I am God.
If you listen, you’ll hear.
I know you are doubting:
‘When is my time? Why is there rain?
How long will it last, the longing and pain?’
There is a season, child,
for everything under the sun.
Embrace your winter; your spring will come.”
I shed a tear. God reaches to dry it,
saying, “Where we are going, the waters are quiet.”
I open my eyes, amazed by God’s grace.
With one final question, I turn toward God’s face.
“Father, I’ve hurt you. I’ve made you cry.
I don’t deserve this, so let me ask why?”
Holding my face in hands tender and true,
God says, “That’s your easiest question—
because I love you.”

Lizzie feet 2FEAR NOT: I have learned that the wilderness is not dangerous but a place of adventure, where beauty reigns and love is unrestricted. In the wilderness, we can rest in God’s arms and enjoy the beauty and mystery of God’s presence. As we surrender our control, our fear, the distractions in our lives, we discover that God walks with us near flowing streams, dances with us under the sunset sky, and whispers sweet words to us beneath the stars. In the wilderness, we discover God’s pure love.

“I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.”                                                                        Hosea 2:14b (NIV)
