SPIRITUAL BATTERIES

Emily Mather, 17, and Sophie Mather, 17

Every other Sunday night, the youth of our church get together for games, movies, food, and conversation. We all have busy lives, balancing school, sports, clubs, and church activities; but the busyness only makes youth group more important. After an exhausting week of activities, youth group helps us to recharge our spiritual batteries. As we spend time praying and talking together, we feel inspired to show love to others during the week.

Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)

At the end of every meeting, we join hands for a time of prayer. Coming together to pray for one another reminds us not to worry so much about our problems because we don’t have to carry them alone. When we stop dwelling on our own struggles, we can focus on loving the people around us. During our prayer time, we always leave one spot in the circle open for someone who will be part of our youth group in the future. This practice encourages us to invite people we know to experience our loving community.

ACT ON IT: How do you recharge your spiritual batteries? Take time this week to recharge in the outlet of youth fellowship.
