PRAYER SPACES

Sally Chambers

Youth Workers, looking for an experiential program for Advent? Try “Spaces to Pray.”

“Spaces to Pray” introduces the use of prayer stations as a way to make a physical space for God — as a way to say, “Welcome. Be here; be real among us.” The article outlines three interactive Advent prayer stations that can be set up for a group gathering or even in the corner of a young person’s room.

For your next group session, create these “Spaces to Pray” as a way to help young people reflect on the season of Advent that is approaching. You may also want to challenge the group to set up these prayer stations in a large room during Advent and to host a day or evening gathering for your congregation or community. Invite family and friends to come and to make room in their lives for God during this season of preparation and waiting for the coming of the Christ Child.
