Bedtime Prayer of the Overcommitted Student

Lori Z. Scott

Now I lay me down to sleep;
I pray the Lord my goals to keep.
A lot of goals, a lot to do,
’cause I can’t skip the homework due.
I must say YES when youth group calls.
I won’t miss band or basketball.
Don’t let me die before I wake;
tomorrow has too much at stake.
May angels guard me through the night
and wake me with the morning light,
so I can tackle a new day
without exhaustion in the way.
And if the twinkling time should come,
I pray the Lord I’ve got things done!

“Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 (GNT)

PRAY: Ask God to help you slow down and enjoy life.
