Looking for God

Jessica Lippe & Von Mitchell

When I worked at a Christian summer camp, I looked forward to our staff devotions. I especially enjoyed the devo times led by our camp chef because we would watch a movie afterward. One night the chef said, “Try to see God in every movie.”

Come and see the works of the Lord.
Psalm 46:8a (NIV)

What a great idea! If I’m going to invest a couple hours of my life in a movie, why not look for the ways God works in the lives of its characters and events? Sure, not every movie will reflect God; but God is still at work. The next time you pick out a movie to watch, say a prayer, asking God to be revealed in the showing.
