As a Christian who enjoys science, I often have pondered how the two might be interconnected. Instead of thinking that I can’t enjoy science because I believe in a Creator, I have learned to recognize God’s hands in the mystery of science.

[God] performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.
Job 9:10 (NIV)

For four summers, I attended a science-focused week at a Bible camp. We discussed biology, chemistry, physics, and even creation. These discussions helped me to see how God and science can coexist. We all can find beauty in a sunrise or an unexpected snowfall. Whether or not we understand the science behind the occurrence, we can marvel at creation.

Stop and Wonder: Often we forget to appreciate God’s creation as we go about our busy day. But when we pay attention, we realize just how grand creation is. It is beyond our understanding. Even as scientists uncover more and more information, we learn only that we know less than we thought we did. Each new discovery proves that we serve an awesome God who has blessed us with a complex world to study and enjoy. So go outside and appreciate the wonder of all that God has created.
