Strength to Go On

Kristin Shaffer, 17

When the Israelites fought the Amalekites, Moses stood on a hill and observed the battle. As long as he held up the staff of God, the Israelites won; but if he grew weak and lowered his hand, the Israelites began to lose. Moses was exhausted; he could not possibly continue. So Aaron and Hur brought a stone for him to sit on, and they held up his hands to keep them steady. They stood by his side until the Amalekites were defeated.

Learn how Moses held on through a long battle in Exodus 17:8–13.

Sometimes life’s battles carry on for so long that our souls grow weary and we long to give up. But as soon as we give up, we will lose the battle. Seeking help from Christian friends can give us the extra push we need to keep going. When we work together, trusting God and giving one another strength, the victory is ours!
