The Truth about Parents

Nicki Figley

I am blessed to have the parents that I have. Both are Christians, and we communicate well with one another. Our good communication solves so many problems and prevents many new ones from arising.

Because of my relationship with my parents, it is easy for me to tell my friends to be open with their parents. But in reality, not all parents are like mine. Some friends of mine make wiser decisions than their parents do. Others would be ignored if they tried to share their feelings with their parents.

Find out where true wisdom comes from in Job 32:6-9.

As teens grow older and more independent, we may not all have the support of our parents. In some cases, parents may even try to interfere with our relationship with God. When our parents are less than we think they should be, we can always turn to God, our heavenly parent, for guidance, support, encouragement, and love. God can be the eternal foundation in our lives—something that our parents could never be for us.

PRAY AND ACT: Do you know someone who has unwise or uncaring parents? Remember to pray for these people. Find out how you can help them.
