“I Know A Secret”

“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:12b-13 (NIV)

Several years ago during a darker season, I discovered these words written by Paul, a devout man of faith who lived in the first century after Christ. Paul was passionate about sharing Christ’s message of hope and would go to great lengths to do so, often ending up in prison and ultimately losing his life for the cause. These verses are from a letter he wrote to the Philippian church from his prison cell!

Paul’s words got me thinking. His confidence in Christ’s power gave him peace and contentment, regardless of what he was facing. In our lives of changing circumstances, what does it mean to be hopeful in both success and failure, in sunny days and dark ones?

The secret of Christ was the source of Paul’s strength in all circumstances. I am learning that as God’s voice becomes louder and clearer in my own life through prayer, study, and time spent with friends, I trust more deeply God’s love as my Secret source of hope and strength. I encourage you to ask God to be your “Secret” source of strength today!
