M. Andrew Vance, 20

On February 27, 2012, three students died and another was paralyzed in a shooting at Chardon High School in Ohio.

We’ve been through pain and fear.
How can any good come from our suffering?
The answer is God.
God is love.
The God of this city
was watching over us
through a tragedy
that, in the midst of chaos,
did some good.
It brought a community together,
families closer,
and strengthened us.
Now when people tell stories of Chardon, Ohio,
they don’t talk about maple syrup
or four feet of snow.
They say that a community came together
as one family
with one heartbeat.

PRAYER: God, in times of suffering, bring us together as family. Amen.
