Julia Grant, 20

This burden’s far too heavy;
I can’t stand,
now that I see who I am.
I’m ashamed.
I’m afraid that you can’t love me;
I’m unworthy.
The guilt is too much to bear.
I’ve tried not to see my mistakes,
but they’re too many to hide.
I was in the nails that held you.
I was the torment on your brow.
I don’t deserve your love,
but your mercy pursues me
and brings me to my knees.
The burden was too heavy for me,
but not for you.
Shame can’t keep me down.
Your forgiveness gives me power
to dance upon this ground.
