Creative Work

Tynea Lewis

On my own
I cannot stand.
My strength is much too weak,
and I fall
when my eyes move
from the one who guides me.
Like Peter, I begin to sink
when I see the waves
crashing around me.
On my own
I sink.
My focus needs to stay steadfast
on the one who directs my steps.
He is there to carry the weight
that pulls me down.
On my own
I am no one.
On my own
I will fail.
On my own
I don’t want to be.
