Living in Darkness

Jacquelin Fritz, 23

Shattered in a million pieces,
left on the ground.
Rain mixed with salty tears.
Nowhere to go, no one to turn to—
just another lost cause.

I’m wandering around,
looking in the wrong places.
My showered sobs—
are they heard?
Will I be rescued from sin?

Blood, tears
disappearing down the sink
along with hope of a better life.
Pain, anger,
filling each space
to take over what is left—
though it isn’t much.

Why this? Why me?
No longer can I scream!
Is there a way to escape?
Will I get a second chance?
Is this just another lie?

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
Ephesians 5:8 (NIV)

Hurting, bleeding,
wanting to get out.
In need of a Savior.
Gasping, pleading,
I’m ready to end this now,
to give it all up.

This life:
End it all
or give it to Christ?

PRAYER: Christ, be our light! Shine through the darkness so that we may choose life and learn to live as children of light.
