Creative Work

Julia Grant, 21

Something inside us
longs for a touch
we can feel, see, and trust—
but we’ve neglected to place
our trust in God.
Insecurity overwhelms us,
so we search
for beauty and adequacy
in the arms of a another.
Attracted to instant feelings
we don’t let God produce steadfast love in us.
When we place our faith
in anything human,
it’s bound to collapse.
But if our hearts are bound to our Creator,
our human relationships are made
for more than ourselves.
No longer will we look to each other for the cravings of our soul.
We will push each other toward the God we crave to know.
