Creative Work

When I traveled to Greece during college, I was fascinated to see little miniature church-shaped shrines along the roadsides. I learned that originally such shrines marked the entrance to a monastary, and the mini-church was built to look like the building it matched. As I took notice of the mini-churches during my trip, I saw that each one was filled with candles, flowers or icons, gifts and offerings of devotion to God. My travels in Greece and these mini-churches gave me new respect for visible spiritual practices. By filling these shrines with devotional items, the local people were also sharing signs of their faith with travelers like me.
