Creative Work

Elaine Creasman

How I long to have passion
for you the way I do for sports!
Today, as I shouted and cheered
for my team, I wondered
why I can’t get as excited
about you as I do about them.
They are players on a field;
but you are the God of the universe,
who is willing to bend down low
enough to make a connection with me.
I’m obsessed with my team’s winning;
but in my relationship with you,
I am turned from a loser to a winner
because of your grace.

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
Psalm 34:1 (NIV)

I’m realizing it’s not a sin to enjoy
watching a sporting event,
but let the deep joy of my heart
be centered in you.
Let me shout and cheer for you
in songs of praise, and let my
greatest passion be for you.
