Sometimes I Cry

Hannah Pafford

The rocks beat me.
The swords wound me.
The feathers free me.
And the ravens kill me.
Sometimes I cry.

The rocks that beat me are invincible,
With every touch its swords convincible.
The feathers from the birds free me.
But in the end the ravens defeat me.
Sometimes I cry.

This world filled with burdens destroys me,
Your dagger always reopens the wound inside me.
But every time the feathers free me,
until the end when death finds me.
Sometimes I cry.
