Creative Work

Michelle Ankrum, 16

I am me.
Did you hear that?
I am me.
I am not who you think I am,
who you want me to be.
You insist on bullying me as if I were nothing,
but I was created by God.
I am me.
You bring me down with your teasing and taunts.
Do you like making someone younger than you
want to run and hide?
What are you trying to accomplish by breaking me down?
Your bullying does nothing for you,
and it’s certainly not doing anything for me.
What’s the point?
Hurting me makes you feel stronger,
but FYI: You’re not.
I don’t know what’s going on with you,
but I do know what’s happening to me.
I am done with your bullying. You should be too.
