Try a New Perspective

Tynea Lewis

Sometimes I sit in the silence,
wishing I were surrounded by noise.
The deafening stillness
makes me feel more alone,
as if no one cares
and I’m not valued.
“Do not dwell on these thoughts,”
a whisper says to my heart.
But they are an easy focus.
It seems everyone is living life
except me.
Then I see that God is trying
to pull me close,
to enter my loneliness.
Time alone
is for us to spend together.
