Post a Prayer Request

My little sister and I are both dealing with bullies and depression, and my sister is doing self-harm. I’ve been in a mental hospital 3 times for attempted suicide, and during my 3rd time in the hospital I started going to church more and trying to beat my depression. my sister doesn’t believe in God and i worry about her. Even though i’m still having a hard time i am trying to go to church and beat my depression.
sincerely, alex

I am keeping you in my thoughts – I know that if you want to survive and enjoy life and are determined too – you will. I pray you and your sister are able to perceive the world from a positive point of view and able to overcome your depression and enjoy the good things life has to offer.

You’re doing a wonderful job overcoming this, and you’re on the right path. What a gift you are giving your sister, by looking to God during this difficult season you are both in. The teen years are especially hard, because our emotions are very strong and we haven’t developed the coping mechanisms we need for life yet. Sometimes it’s just a matter of hanging tough until you get through it. Take a breath, and keep on keeping on. Thoughts of ending our life occur when our perspective is tweaked. I’ve been there. Wherever we look, we see only trouble and hopelessness. Somehow, as we look to God, all our thoughts about the hard things take on the color of hope. The troubles don’t look so impossible in the light of God’s love, because we see he is with us. He will see you through. Promise him, yourself, and if possible a helpful adult in your life, that you will never give in to those thoughts. Remember, you’re never alone. “In him we live and move and have our being.” -Acts 17:28

God does not put anyone through something they can’t handle. Give everything up to him and he will carry you through. NEVER be afraid to ask for help. I will be praying for you and your sister. God Bless you both; he loves you more than you could ever imagine.

Going to the family of God is where you should be. Depression is an illness. Not your fault. People can help you manage it. Don’t be silent. Get the professional help and tools you need to break the power of the darkness. God’s light will reach into that pit and break you free. I’ve been there. I know. God’s love is ALWAYS stronger than the darkness. God will send you all the tools, companions, doctors, medications, counselors, whatever it takes. This is a disease just like diabetes or heart disease. There is no shame; it is body chemistry, and there is help to get it in balance. It takes time and it is sometimes hard to work on, but keep at it. It will get better. God will provide many tools, use ALL of his gifts. You are loved with an everlasting love! You are precious in HIS sight! You and your sister! The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). In fact, all of Psalm 34 is awesome to read! Blessing to you, Alex, and your family. May you feel the arms of God loving you and holding you! There is an abundant life on the other side of this current struggle; you will get there!!!

I will be praying for you and your sister. I also have found some great scriptures for you to read. They are on depression.
    1 Kings 19
    Job 3:1-26
    Psalm 119:25
    Proverbs 15:13
    Proverbs 17:22
    2 Timothy 2:3-13

I pray that God will help you through this time of trial and tribulation. Remmber that even when it seems like God is not there he will always be there to help you through. Also when you have those thoughts of suicide, you should rebuke the Devil because all bad things come from the Devil. God will never put one bad thought in your mind, that is all the Devil. When the thoughts of suicide do come into your mind, just prayer that God will help you.

I will pray for you and your sister. There is power in prayer. And know that there are more people who love and support you than there are bullies in your life.

Alexander, you can find healing in God and in His Word. Know that it is Jesus ONLY Who can save you. God put you here for a purpose, Alexander. (See Jeremiah 29:11-13)
