Post a Prayer Request

My brother Matt has been in a toxic relationship for almost 4 years now. He has told us that he’s not happy in the relationship, but he’s so attached to his girlfriend’s daughter that he would rather be miserable himself than lose out on being a part of his girlfriend’s child’s life. His girlfriend verbally abuses him, ridicules him in front of his friends and family, and actually tries to prevent him from spending time with his family. She has been after his money since day one, and she knows how attached he is to her daughter, so anytime he doesn’t want to buy her something she wants, she threatens to break up with him and never let him see her daughter again. It’s not his child; she was pregnant before they started dating, but he’s been there since the child was born. I know that God has someone out there who will love my brother for who he is and not for what he can give to her, a woman who will build him up and lead him closer to God.

I just ask that you pray for the situation that he’s in, for guidance and direction in his life and for the motivation to leave the relationship that’s been destroying him. I also ask that you would pray that he can somehow maintain a relationship with the child even after splitting ways with that woman. He has been such a blessing in her little life, and every child deserves to have a figure in their life who loves and supports them the way that my brother does her. Matt is an amazing guy with a big heart, and he’s stuck in an awful place. He needs God’s help to move forward with his life and find what God truly has for him. I appreciate your support on this. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to pray for my family.

I’ll be praying for your brother and family, Susan, and you hang in there too. God works for the good of those who love him.

Susan, you must love your brother very much. Nothing this woman does can take away his relationship with the little girl. She will always remember that. God was able to bring about a friendship with me and my alcoholic ex-husband, which I am so grateful for since he only lived a few years after that. Our children were able to see this happen. Our God deeply loves each person in your brother’s situation and can bring about new life, maybe not what the old life looked like. He is creating new things every day and asks that we allow Him to rescue us from this fallen world. He really can create beautiful things from our messy lives. I am also praying for the woman in this relationship. She desperately needs God’s help and Grace.
