Spiritual Practice

Sara Caporaletti

I stare out at the horizon seeking the end
My eyes scan back and forth seeing no breaks
The relentless in and out calms my breathing
Breathe in
Breathe out
Heart beating
Slowly slowing
Over and over

You rule over the surging sea;
when its waves mount up, you still them.
Psalm 89:9 (NIV)

Everything else fades away until it’s just
Me, sand, and sky endlessly
The smell is familiar
The light changes
The sound continues
The water is cool and warm
I feel the words
It’s going to be all right

What brings you peace?
