Spiritual Practice

Chelsey Smith, 17

Friends genuinely care about you and love you no matter what. They are always there for you, especially in the darkest valleys of your life. Spiritual friends do even more because Christ’s love resides in them. Christian friends encourage you in the faith, challenge you to dig into scripture, and inspire you to grow more intimate in your relationship with God.

Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:1 (NIV)

A co-worker of mine, Mr. Richard, is a spiritual friend. He expresses his love for Christ and for others through kind words and a gentle smile. The joy of the Lord shines from within him. I have never seen Mr. Richard burdened by the troubles of this world because he chooses not to be discouraged by them. By his example, he inspires me to be joyful and always to stay strong in my relationship with the Lord.

PRAY: Take a moment to think about your spiritual friendships. What makes them special? Then thank the Lord for your Christian friends.
