Spiritual Practice

Connor Claussen, 20

When an event rocks my world or a problem arises in my life, one of the first places I go is to the weight room. There I can step away from my troubles for a while. The pressures and anxiety of everyday life often pile up on me as if I were being buried in sand; but as I lift that first weight, I begin to release my problems and to dig my way out. Everyone needs an escape from troubles, and my way is to work out my body. Lifting weights renews my will to solve problems. When I come home from the gym, I am calm and refreshed, ready to tackle whatever problems come my way. When I don’t exercise, I have no patience; but after a workout, I am ready to take on the day!

That’s why I work so hard and use the mighty power he gives me.
Colossians 1:29 (CEV)

FOLLOW CONNOR’S EXAMPLE: The next time you go through a rough patch in your life, go to the gym. Working out might help you to step back from your situation and to understand what options God is trying to show you.
