Like Christ

Claudia Covington, 18

I have good intentions. I wake up with a resolve to do better, to be better, to live better. I create a checklist. make better grades in school—check. Be a more caring girlfriend—check. Lead all of my friends to Christ—hmmm. I love my friends, but I’m working too hard on being a better me. I don’t have time for all this.

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us.
Ephesians 5:1-2a (NIV)

Scripture says that we are to be imitators of Christ. Christ’s priorities were to love others, to be humble, and to obey the will of God.

How can we become imitators of Christ? We can begin by giving up our personal checklists and letting Christ guide us through each of our daily decisions. He will hold us up when we fall; and we will fall, often and hard. Imitating Christ is not a Sunday-morning chore but a 24/7 relationship with Christ, who loves and cares for us more than we know.

5-SECOND PRAYER: God, teach us to imitate Christ in all that we do. Amen.
