Spiritual Practice

Moses Ngaima & Emily Acker

When I was a kid, I would sometimes wish I was an adult. I thought that when I got older I wouldn’t be bossed around or told what things to do and how to do them. I wanted to be independent. But I was oblivious—not realizing that adulting was more than freedom.

Adulthood comes with responsibilities and challenges. As we become adults, we often make mistakes that we regret. I have learned to give every situation—good or bad—to God, who created me and knows me better than I will ever know myself. Adulting can be challenging; but with God’s help, I know I can overcome life’s obstacles.

—Moses Ngaima, 21

[God’s Spirit] knows us far better than we know ourselves. . . . That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
Romans 8:27-28 (The Message)

GROW WITH GOD: Every day, you are growing a little older, a little wiser, and a little more independent. Whether you are excited about gaining more freedom or nervous about leaving childhood behind, time keeps moving forward. Soon you will be making all of your own decisions. Trust God to guide you as you make these choices. Ask God to help you be wise. Allow God to lead you as you try to figure out the best way forward.
