Spiritual Practice

Christian Stinson

In my heart, I have no fear.
There’s no more pain, no more tears.
I go home soon, to be free again,
to start my new life outside this pen.
I’m doing my best to stay strong
for on the narrow path is where I belong.
Christ is with me every step of the way,
by my side never to leave nor forsake,
residing in my heart, along with his love
helping me, guiding me, with blessings from above.
My sins are forgiven. My record is clear.
He saved my life. I draw him near.
I read God’s word daily. I study it at night
to strengthen my spirit and renew my mind.
Admittedly, I struggle; but I’m never alone,
for he is my strength, my rock, and my stone.
This predicament is temporary; it’s just a phase,
a chance to get my life rearranged.
I’ll walk with Christ my Savior, my Lord,
and welcome the life that he has in store.
I’ll no longer live a life that’s so vain.
I’m embracing his love and loving this change.

[The Lord] has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind.
Luke 4:18b (NIV)

BE CHANGED: I am serving time in a youth facility. Throughout my time, I have been coming to know our great and awesome God. The closer to God I get, the more my life changes. I will be released on a Sunday. I can’t wait to go to church, to be home with my family again, and to show them the changes I have made through Christ, who strengthens me. How is God’s love changing you?
