Sole2Soul Amy and Mary 2Knowing that a pair of shoes could change the life of a child, Amy Gowen and Mary Dahlke started a non-profit organization called Sole2Soul.

With the help of generous people, Sole2Soul has given almost 2000 pairs of new shoes to orphans and children in Haiti.

I’m just one soul. What can I do, God?
Put shoes on the feet of my children,
one sole at a time. Do it for me.

A little boy stands in shoes too small,
his toes curled inside.
Better than no shoes at all.
He needs help to stretch out his feet.

A little girl has not smiled since they found her,
orphaned in the earthquake.
No one knows how to reach her.
A pair of light-up shoes brings a smile.

A young man walks barefoot on rocks
that cut his feet, then steps in water
infested with parasites that threaten his health.
Basketball shoes make him jump for joy.

A young girl sees no hope for a better life.
Poverty overwhelms her dreams.
Then she receives a pair of new shoes.

An American teen witnesses joy.
“We are so spoiled at home,” he says.
“These kids are happy, happy for rice and beans,
and a new pair of shoes!”

PRAYER: Loving God, when we serve your children, make our offerings acceptable to you. Amen.
