Soul Revolution

Haley Meister, 19

soul_rev_screenI recently started using Soul Revolution, an app that sends on the hour, twelve times a day, a Bible verse and a short challenge. I love it! Soul Revolution prompts me to read scripture and to consider what I am doing to serve God throughout the day. This past week, Soul Revolution sent me verses that emphasized praying and walking in step with the Holy Spirit. By being reminded to pray continuously and reading every hour of the day that the Holy Spirit empowers me to live for God, I have started to believe this promise and to apply it to my life. In the past, I’ve been shy about talking about God in a public school, but I’m becoming much more confident.

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
2 Timothy 3:16 (NRSV)

Soul Revolution also reminds me that I can find better ways to spend my time than by scrolling through every social network known to humanity. When the app pops up, I’m forced to reconsider how I’m spending my time, which has prompted me to be more disciplined, not only in memorization and prayer but also in exercise and homework. Although I’m still far from perfect, I’ve begun to make better use of my time and I regret fewer of my actions—or my lack of action—at the end of the day.

PRAYER: God, teach us to spend time in your presence that we may be empowered to live for you. Amen.
