Don’t Have a Steady Date?

Kate Schmelzer and Alissa French

It’s not the end of the world. There are lots of things you can do to enjoy life. Try these ideas, or come up with your own.

> Declare a family night. Pull out those dusty board games, and order pizza.

> Enjoy not haggling over what movie to see—chick flick v.s. action film. Rent the DVD you want to watch, and curl up with a bowl of popcorn.

> Get more involved in your church and with your youth group.

> Not only will your grades improve, but you will have more time for some extra-curricular activities. Join the drama club; sign up for intramural soccer; hang out with friends.

> Play ball! Sports take a huge commitment of time and energy. Since you’ve got the time, why not get some exercise?

> Find a job you’ll enjoy. Work at the ice cream store, the hockey rink, or the children’s section at the library. And enjoy a little spending money!

> Develop an ongoing relationship with God. Talk to God throughout each day. God will listen—and will always be with you.

REFLECT: My love life is currently nonexistent, but I expect that God will someday bring the right man into my life. Until then, I see this time as a blessing because I can use it to grow in my relationship with Christ. When the right guy does come along, he will love the image of Christ within me—and that kind of love will last for an eternity.

—Alissa French

Don’t be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God’s place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life.
—1 Corinthians 7:17  (The Message)
