Write When God Seems Far Away

Alison Dyck

Once when my prayers seemed to be hitting a wall, I grabbed some paper and wrote the word God. At first I wrote small, then I kept writing “God” over and over, bigger and bigger, until other words flowed—words that spoke of the distance I felt between God and me.

Letter to God
Finally I sensed that my connection with God had been renewed. Something about writing, with pen and paper, frees the spirit and help us to connect with God.

When God seems distant, take courage, grab a pen, and write.
